True Fibers

True fibers is an informational website created by Cheryl Kolander, who has been a professional natural dyer and textile expert for over 35 years. Cheryl has literally "written the book" about silk, hemp, and natural dyes. Described by her son as the "mother of all hippies", Cheryl is a devoted naturalist trying to bring the natural fibers and dyes true to her heart to the heart of the market. Cheryl grew up in a time when home economics were taught in all schools, and everybody learned the basics of textile arts. Now, to fill the gap left by a school system that no longer supports these arts, this website is dedicated to teaching students of all ages the traditional knowledge and practices almost forgotten to the modern world.
